Hello Super Skaters,
I know this is a bit last minute but I've decided that because it's been ages since I've done a Crossovers and Lunge turns workshop I'm putting one on tomorrow.
It starts at 11am at Albert Memorial and finishes at 1pm. The cost is only £20 per person so drop me a line on mark@skateinstructor.com or text / call me on 07753-489669 if you would like to attend and don't forget that you will need knee, wrist and elbow pads as well as a helmet. If you're short of any, call me and I'll see what I can do.
Either way, hope you all have a good weekends skating. It looks like it's going to be mild at the very least so get rolling !!! :)
Peace.
Mark.
Ps. Here's a bit about Lunge Turns and Crossovers:
They are two really great skills for any skater especially if you do any of London's street skates or use your skate to go pretty much anywhere, they are also two really great skills for hockey players.
The Lunge turn is essentially a Parallel Turn but you don't have to slow down so much to do it. In-fact it's exactly that, a speed turn but they can also be used to slow you down and control your speed.
Crossovers are a speed maintaining turn and if done correctly you can also increase you speed whilst doing a crossover. There's nothing worse than having to slow down on a turn, with a crossover you can actually speed up.
This skill is learnt by going round in circles and we teach this in seven different parts, one of which is the under-push which provides extra power to this awesome skill.
